Sizing

Stumptown Kilts is proud to be Made in America. From regionally sourced fabrics to being designed in Portland and sewn in the Great Northwest, our Kilts are among the few utility Kilts completely Made in the U.S.A.

All of StumpTown Men’s Kilts are adjustable by 6 waist sizes using our patented snap system.  This accommodates for weight fluctuation and gives you room for any under apparel such as cosplay costuming.  Are you right on the edge and need an extra snap?  Just email us at info@stumptownkilts.com and we’ll add an extra sizing snap.

Cotton Canvas Duck Kilts and Cotton Ripstop Kilts are sized an inch larger per size due to the fact cotton shrinks in the wash and stretches with wear.  These include an extra sizing snap.
Keep in mind that pant sizing varies greatly.  Chances are if you are 32-34" waist size in pants, you are probably 36-38 in actual inches.
Our most returned Kilt is the !10Pleat!
Measure up before you wrap up.

!ATTENTION! Your pants have been lying to you. Pants sizing is not in actual inches, your waist is typically 3 to 4 inches larger. Sorry to break it to you. There is a reason they call it "Vanity Sizing".
So, be sure to measure for proper fit.

LENGTH
Now that you’ve measured your waist it’s time to figure out length.  StumpTown Kilts offers lengths of
19”, 21”, 23”, & 25” in our Kilts for Men and are measured from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the pleat.

A Traditional Kilt is worn at the natural waist (belly button) and has a
drop (top measured to bottom of the kilt) that brings it to the mid knee.  The idea is that you should be able to kneel on the ground without your Kilt dragging on it.  These are Modern Kilts so you can wear them as you like them!  Most prefer to wear Utility Kilts at low waist (where you wear your pants).  The drop preference can vary, some like them below the knee to provide more coverage (in a work kilt or when sitting) and some like them above the knee for either hiking or the fact that they have great looking knees.  It’s your Kilt so measure it from where you will find it the most comfortable.  Our Kilts are measured from top of the waistband to the bottom of the pleat.
Every woman has her own unique shape.  Often, standard sizes like S, M, L, and XL can’t accommodate different torso lengths and hip sizes. The adjustable waist feature provides a custom fit that expands up to 5" in the waist, allowing the kilt to be placed wherever it feels most comfortable on you.  Are you right on the edge and need some extra snaps?

Just email us
info@stumptownkilts.com and we’ll add a couple of extra sizing snaps for you.
Be aware that your pants have been lying to you all this time, your waist is typically 2 to 4 inches larger.  There is a reason they call it "Vanity Sizing". So, be sure to measure for proper fit.

KILTS FOR WOMEN
Kilts for Women come in a 15" and 17" length from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the pleat.

THE STUMPTOWN MINIKILT
The StumpTown Minikilt measures 13.5" length from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the pleat. StumpTown Kilts currently only offers the StumpTown MiniKilt in X-Small (Waist Sizes: 2 to 4 / 28" to 32") and Small (Waist Sizes: 6 to 8 / 32" to 36").
