Sizing & Fit
How do I find my kilt size?
We recommend measuring your natural waist. Note that standard pants sizing uses vanity sizing — your actual waist is typically 3–4 inches larger than your pants size. Check our Sizing Charts page for detailed measurements for both Men's and Women's kilts.
How adjustable are the kilts?
Men's Kilts expand by 6 inches via our patented snap system. Women's Kilts & MiniKilts adjust by 5 sizes. This means one kilt can fit a range of body sizes and accommodates weight fluctuations.
Features & Pockets
Do StumpTown Kilts have pockets?
Yes! All Kilts have an internal "secret" pocket in the front apron. STKs also feature a military-style bandoleer for Attachable Pockets. Kilts come with 1 or 2 Attachable Pockets. Additional pockets are sold separately.
What is the patented snap system?
Our snap system uses a structured multi-row grid of snaps that lets a flat textile wrap a curved body while maintaining balance, drape, and adjustability. It's what makes our adjustable waist possible.
Materials & Care
How do I care for my Kilt?
Wash cold, inside out. Fold in half twice, hand-smooth the pleats, clip to hang, and reverse fold to dry. Iron on low heat — use a cotton slip cloth if ironing poly/cotton twill blend only. All fabric is preshrunk, though some minor shrinkage may occur with 100% cotton canvas duck and ripstop fabrics.
What materials are available?
We offer Kilts in poly/cotton twill blend, canvas duck (thick and extremely durable), ripstop (lightweight, isolates rips and snags).
Shipping
How long does shipping take?
Processing typically takes a few business days, up to 6–10 business days during vending season. Backordered items may take up to 12 weeks. We ship domestically via UPS and USPS. Pockets ship free within the US.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Please note that international duties and taxes are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in our shipping charges.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
We accept exchanges and refunds within 30 days of delivery for new, unworn, unwashed Kilts. Special/custom orders are non-refundable. Return shipping is at the customer's expense, and a restocking fee of up to $20 per item may apply. Send returns to: 2303 NE Alberta St., Portland, OR 97211.
What if there's a craftsmanship issue?
We stand behind our work with a 90-day warranty on craftsmanship issues. We'll repair or replace any defective item.
Can I cancel my order?
A cancellation fee of up to $20 per item may apply. Contact us as soon as possible to request a cancellation before your order ships.
Custom & Wedding Orders
Do you do wedding kilts?
Yes! We offer traditional white or pinstripe kilts for weddings. Contact sales@stumptownkilts.com for personalized fittings and pricing.
Do you offer made-to-order kilts?
Yes, we offer Made To Order Kilts with your choice of hardware finish (antique brass, gunmetal, or chrome).
